How NOVI Develops Provider Resources

NOVI educational resources are written for licensed medical providers and informed by primary regulatory, clinical, and safety authorities. This page explains how content is sourced, reviewed, and maintained.

Exclusively for Registered Nurses and advanced licensed medical providers.

What NOVI resources are

NOVI educational resources are written for licensed medical providers — Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physicians, and other eligible advanced licensed medical professionals. They explain medical oversight, scope of practice, delegation, supervision, documentation, compliance, training, and practice growth in medical aesthetics. They are educational, not legal, regulatory, or medical advice.

How sources are selected

NOVI educational content may be informed by:

  • Government regulatory sources
  • State licensing boards
  • Official statutes and administrative rules
  • FDA and CDC guidance
  • OSHA requirements
  • HHS privacy and security guidance
  • Official prescribing information
  • Established clinical guidance
  • Peer-reviewed literature
  • Qualified medical, legal, or compliance review when available

Sources are selected based on relevance and authority. We prioritize primary official sources — boards, statutes, and federal agency guidance — over summaries, blogs, or third-party commentary.

What NOVI resources are not

NOVI resources do not:

  • Guarantee compliance with any state or federal requirement.
  • Provide legal or medical advice.
  • Substitute for consultation with qualified legal counsel, your licensing board, or appropriate clinical leadership.
  • Apply one state's rules to another jurisdiction.
  • Authorize a provider to perform treatments outside their license or scope.

State requirements vary, and regulations can change. Providers must verify current requirements with the appropriate issuing body before relying on any summary.

Review dates

Significant regulatory, medical, safety, or scope-of-practice pages may display a "Last reviewed" date. We update the displayed review date only when the substance, sources, or applicable guidance has actually been reviewed — not merely to make content appear recent.

Author and reviewer information

Where verified author or reviewer information is available and approved, NOVI may include the name, role, license type, and credentials of the author or reviewer on the relevant page. We do not invent medical reviewers, degrees, license types, board certifications, professional titles, years of experience, or affiliations. If no verified reviewer exists, the reviewer field is omitted.

How updates are made

When an existing resource is revised, we preserve its URL, retain useful existing content, update metadata only when needed, and confirm the audience qualifier and NOVI Society referral pathway remain intact. When a topic is already covered on an existing page, we strengthen that page rather than publishing a competing URL.

Editorial standards

NOVI avoids filler content, keyword variations of the same topic, and repetitive boilerplate. Eligibility messaging and the standard medical-regulatory disclaimer may be standardized, but the substantive content on each page is written for the specific topic and audience.

Conflicts of interest

NOVI resources are written to educate licensed medical providers, not to promote specific products or services through editorial content. Where a resource page links to a NOVI service, the link is clearly labeled as a service page and is separate from the educational content. NOVI does not accept payment for editorial placement, product endorsements, or favorable coverage in its educational resources.

Sponsored content

NOVI does not currently publish sponsored content within its educational resource library. If sponsored content is introduced in the future, it will be clearly labeled as sponsored or promotional and will be kept separate from educational content.

Limitations of NOVI resources

NOVI resources are general educational summaries. They do not cover every state, treatment, provider type, or practice model. They may not reflect the most recent regulatory changes. Providers must verify current requirements with the appropriate issuing body — state medical boards, nursing boards, pharmacy boards, and federal agencies — before relying on any summary. NOVI resources are not a substitute for qualified legal counsel, clinical leadership, or a compliance audit.

Corrections process

When an error is identified in a NOVI resource, we:

  • Record the affected route and the current published language
  • Identify the source of the issue
  • Correct the smallest affected section
  • Preserve the original publication date
  • Update the modification or review date when the change is substantive
  • Verify internal links and structured data after the correction

For substantial public corrections, we may add a visible note such as: "This article was updated on [date] to clarify [general topic]." We do not publish accusatory or defensive correction notes.

How to report an error

If you identify an error in a NOVI resource, please report it through the Contact NOVI page. Include the page URL, a description of the issue, and any supporting source. NOVI reviews error reports and corrects substantiated errors promptly.
